Ramon-Casas y Carbó

Ramón Casas y Carbó (in Catalan, Ramon Casas i Carbó; Barcelona, January 4, 1866 - February 29, 1932) was a Spanish painter famous for his portraits of the social, intellectual, economic and political elite of Barcelona, Madrid and Paris.

Ramón's father had made his fortune in Matanzas (Cuba) and his mother came from a wealthy family.

The following years he continued to paint and travel, spending the autumn and winter in Paris and the rest of the year in Spain, basically in Barcelona but also in Madrid and Granada;

Casas and Rusiñol traveled through Catalonia in 1889 and collaborated on the book Por Catalunya (from my car), with texts by Rusiñol and illustrations by Casas.

With Rusiñol and with the sculptor Enric Clarasó they held an exhibition in the Sala Parés in 1890;

His fame continued to spread throughout Europe, holding successful exhibitions in Madrid (1892-1894), Berlin (1891-1896) and at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago;
