Juan Manuel Díaz-Caneja Betegón (Palencia, June 28, 1905-Madrid, June 24, 1988) was a Spanish painter.
He was born in Palencia in 1905 where he spent his childhood and youth.
In 1929 he traveled to Paris, where he spent the winter, learning first-hand about cubism.
In 1937 he joined the Communist Party of Spain, after meeting his partner Isabel Fernández Almansa, to whom he was affiliated all his life;
In 1948 he was arrested and imprisoned for his links to republicanism;
